Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) player Kamindu Mendis has come up with a brilliant bowling effort in the ongoing game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match between the two teams is taking place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Kamindu Mendis, who is making his debut in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad, stole the limelight in the very first over that he bowled. The Sri Lanka National Cricket Team player was introduced into the attack in the 13th over and he had plans sorted for both right-handed Angkrish Raghuvanshi and left-handed Venkatesh Iyer.

Kamindu Mendis started the over with the left-arm spin to Angkrish Raghuvanshi. He floated up delivery outside off that was very full and the right-hander squeezed it to long-off for a single. However, what caught the attention of many was he changed his bowling arm for Venkatesh Iyer.

Kamindu Mendis switched to right-arm off-spin to Venkatesh Iyer as he darted in flat outside off delivery, back of a length. The Kolkata Knight Riders dragged the pull to long-on to take a single on the second ball of the over, starting the over on a decent note for SRH.

Kamindu Mendis removed Angkrish Raghuvanshi on the 4th ball of the over

Kamindu Mendis, who is one of the rare players to do that, made sure that he started the over on a high. The Sri Lanka National Cricket Team put pressure on the Kolkata Knight Riders with his bowling and removed Angkrish Raghuvanshi on the 4th ball of the over.

Kamindu Mendis bowled a tossed-up delivery outside off, to which Angkrish Raghuvanshi attempted to play a lofted drive over extra cover. However, he ended up slicing it off the outside half as the ball went towards a deep backward point, where Harshal Patel charged in and picked a brilliant low catch.

Kolkata Knight Riders ended with a total of 200/6

Angkrish Raghuvanshi slammed his second half-century of the IPL as he ended with an innings of 50 runs off 32 balls, slamming 5 fours and 2 sixes. After he got out, the show was stolen by vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer, who played a brilliant innings, having been out of form for the last three games.

Venkatesh Iyer slammed a brutal half-century and ended up playing an innings of 60 runs off 29 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 206 and hit 7 fours and 3 sixes during his stay at the crease, helping Kolkata Knight Riders reach the 200-run mark.

Rinku Singh (32*) played a decent hand as well as Kolkata Knight Riders ended with a total of 200/6. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mohammed Shami, Pat Cummins, Zeeshan Ansari, Harshal Patel and Kamindu Mendis bagged one wicket each.
